Minaj Accused Of No-Show

A Texas club owner claimed July 30 that Nicki Minaj bailed on performing at an after-party he says she was paid for but the performer says was never booked.

Zouk spokesman Matt Cislo told KDAF-TV that venue reps paid $30,000 for Minaj’s July 29 appearance to an outside promoter who rented the Dallas club for the event. Minaj performed at Verizon Theatre At Grand Prairie earlier that night.

“From my understanding, she was outside, she had shown up, her security had done a walkthrough and she just decided not to come in,” Cislo told the TV station.

He said all arrangements on the club’s part were legit.

“We looked at their contracts, the wire transfer, we had seen everything; that’s why we went through with the show.”

Not so, according to Minaj, who tweeted “No after party tonite barbz,” and “Shout out to the promoters who sold tickets under false pretenses.”

Once that news was out, Cislo said the backlash was heavy.

“As soon as everyone found out she wasn’t showing up on Twitter they were messaging us, text message, emails, you know, ‘Why are you putting on a fake show?’ Just gives us a bad rep,” he explained.

Ticketholders will get refunds.
