Indiana Fair Settlement

A $13.2 million settlement agreement with most victims of last summer’s deadly Indiana State Fair stage collapse means Mid-America Sound and James Thomas Engineering, which furnished and built the structure, are released from further liability.

As of Aug. 2, more than 50 of the 62 eligible claimants agreed to accept the offer, announced by the Indiana Attorney General’s Office.

Paperwork from additional claimants postmarked by midnight Aug. 1 would also be accepted.

Those accepting the offer must agree to release the companies from further claims and will receive a share of the settlement.

Mid-America Sound and Thomas Engineering put up a combined $7.2 million toward the settlement, and have until Aug. 15 to sign off on the agreement.
