Presented by American Express, in partnership with YouTube and VEVO, the Unstaged series has previously paired musicians and directors including Kenny Chesney and Jonathan Demme, Duran Duran and David Lynch, Coldplay and Anton Corbijn, and Jack White and Gary Oldman.

The Killers’ show is set for Sept. 18 in Bronx, N.Y., at the Paradise Theatre. In addition to marking the 11th edition of Unstaged, the show is scheduled on the U.S. release date for the Las Vegas rock band’s fourth studio album, Battle Born.

Herzog’s filmography includes “Nosferatu the Vampyre” (1979), “Woyzeck” (1979), “Fitzcarraldo” (1982) and “Invincible” (2001).

Killers bassist Mark Stoermer told Rolling Stone that Herzog has done his homework to prepare for the show by checking out some of the previous livestreams.

“He wanted to not make any mistakes that any of the other directors may have made,” Stoermer said. “He definitely wanted to make the best version of this live AMEX performance of any director so far.”

Stoermer said that some of the director’s ideas include having someone in the audience crowd-surfing with a camera and putting cameras on drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr.

An American Express presale for the Sept. 18 show began today. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, Aug. 31.

You can watch the livestream on Sept. 18 at YouTube.com/TheKillersVEVO at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
