Have A Cuppa Tea With Billy Corgan

To celebrate the Sept. 13 grand opening of Billy Corgan’s tea house, the Smashing Pumpkins frontman will be at the Chicago-area shop playing several acoustic sessions throughout the day. Tomorrow there will also be free tea.

Madame ZuZu’s is located at 582 Roger Williams Ave in Highland Park, Ill., a suburb north of Chicago.

“I’m a tea guy and living in Highland Park since 2003, I’ve always wanted to open a salon like this for everyone to enjoy,” Corgan said. “This is a place with no age boundaries. We hope to attract everyone from young students to seniors. With a blend of music, photo galleries, art displays and speakers, I think Madame ZuZu’s offers something for everyone.”

Described as a Chinoise-inspired teahouse that you might have found in Paris in the 1930s, the shop aims to “serve as a social hub for the community.” Madame ZuZu’s will be ready to host music performances thanks to a 1930’s Bösendorfer upright piano imported from Finland. As for the drinks and eats, the shop will feature a rotating menu of tea and vegan pastries.

Madame ZuZu’s hours are Tuesday-Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday-Saturday 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shop is closed Mondays.

Corgan plans to start his Sept. 13 acoustic sessions at 11 a.m.
