Smashing Pumpkins: Lost & Found

Numerous acts have unfortunately had their gear and instruments stolen while on tour. Billy Corgan and his band are apparently so fashionable that thieves instead made off with the Smashing Pumpkins’ stage clothes.

The incident happened while the Pumpkins were in Mexico. The band played Monterrey Sept. 23 and Mexico City Sept. 22.

“Bad news SP fans,” Corgan tweeted earlier today. “All our stage clothes (except those in the wash) were stolen out of our cases in from Mexico. Sad end to a great trip!”

Bassist Nicole Fiorentino retweeted Corgan’s tweet and added, “As violating as it is that all our clothes got stolen I am happy no one got hurt. The people who stole them probably need them more than I. Makes me sad for them actually. I feel lucky to be in a position where I will never have to resort to that.”

Thankfully, there is a happy ending to the story. The Twitter tale of the stolen stage clothing was quickly resolved thanks to the U.S. Border Service.

Four hours after Corgan’s tweet, he posted the following update:

“Great news! US Border Service recovered all our clothes from the ‘thieves.’ Well done!

He then added the photo above, writing, “HERE IS OUR STUFF!!! Really appreciate the agents who went and found where it had been hidden.”

And all’s well that ends well.

Tonight the Smashing Pumpkins should be dressed and ready to take the stage in Austin, Texas, at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q/Waller Creek Amphitheatre.
