Chasing The Dragons
Another 150 or so Estonian acts will be hoping to follow the ETEP-winning Ewert & The Two Dragons by boosting their European profiles at Tallinn Music Week April 4-6.
Delegate registration for the annual gathering that had the UK’s The Guardian predicting that Estonia would be “the next region to burst on to the European music scene” opened Oct. 1.
Last year Ewert and his fiery pets played TMW before going on to Eurosonic-Noorderslag and securing a dozen or so festival appearances via the European Talent Exchange Programme.
Last year’s TMW attracted 589 delegates, 306 of which came from outside of Estonia.
It also had showcase gigs from 183 artists with all but 30 of them coming from the tiny Baltic state. The selection process for this year’s acts kicked off Oct. 1.
Iiris, Mari Kalkun, Argo Vals, Gorõ Lana, and Talbot are five Estonian acts already making a noise outside their own territory. They’re all due to play Finland’s Lost in Music festival in Tampere Oct. 17-20.
TMW will also host a party Oct. 19 as part of Music & Media, the Nordic music business conference that runs in parallel with Lost In Music.
