Parnellis Announced

Charlie Hernandez accepted the lifetime achievement honor during the 12th annual Parnelli Awards at Las Vegas’ Mirage Casino & Hotel, where people behind the scenes of the live events industry were honored Oct. 20.

Hernandez, a production manager who got his start on the road with Billy Squier in the late ’70s before working with stars of heavy metal as well as The PoliceThe Rolling Stones and Prince, is also the founder of the nonprofit Just a Bunch of Roadies.

 
The visionary award went to Joe Branam of rigging company Branam Enterprises and Dave Shadoan shared the audio innovator award with his late partner, Ross Ritto.
 
Bruce Rodgers, who designed the set for Madonna’s halftime show at this year’s Super Bowl, took home the set design trophy and lighting designer of the year went to Baz Halpin, who worked on Katy Perry and Lady Antebellum’s tours.
 
Lighting and sound companies of the year went to Production Resource Group and Sound Image, respectively.
 
Mountain Productions took staging company and set construction went to All Access Staging and Productions.
 
Upstaging was named trucking company of the year and Rock-It Cargo nabbed the freight forwarding company award.
 
Linkin Park production manager Jim Digby was named production manager of the year.
