Rain Goes Dark In Vegas

A popular Las Vegas nightclub that opened with the Palms Casino Resort in 2001 is going dark.

The casino and 9Group announced Monday that Rain Nightclub will close early Sunday to make way for a multi-million dollar renovation.

9Group spokeswoman Ashli Kimenker tells The Associated Press that about 50 employees are being notified that Saturday will be the last regular night at the three-story indoor venue at the Palms, west of the Las Vegas Strip.

Kimenker says the 25,000-square facility will host special events in coming weeks including New Year’s Eve weekend performances by Kelly Rowland and Travis Barker.

Renovations begin next year.

The Rain announcement follows the closure in June of the Playboy Club at the Palms – also to allow space for renovations.

New tenants haven’t been identified.
