Universal Milestone

Universal Studios Japan in Osaka celebrated its 100 millionth visitor since opening in 2001.

The lucky visitor was Yumiko Yamashita, a 41-year-old woman from Tokyo who was greeted by Snoopy and a bunch of Sesame Street characters Oct. 29.

She was given a free pass good for one year that allows her to enter the park at any time “without waiting in line.”

Yamashita told Kyodo News Service that this was her 10th visit to the theme park. Her parents live in the area.

It took more than 11 years for USJ to tote up its 100 millionth admission. In contrast, it took Tokyo Disneyland eight years and one month.
