Scaffolding Collapse Near Linkin Park SAF Concert Site

There is news from Cape Town, South Africa, indicating several people were injured today when high winds resulted in a scaffolding collapse near the site of a Linkin Park concert.

According to concert promoter Big Concerts’ Facebook page, 20 people were injured when the temporary scaffolding collapsed outside Cape Town Stadium. Those injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

Apparently the scaffolding was not part of the stage. Big Concerts described the structure as a “branding activation, located adjacent to the stadium forecourt.”

According to Big Concerts’ statement, the structure was “pre-approved and certified safe.”
