Changes: Aretha Franklin, Journey, Roger Hodgson

Hurricane Sandy forces Aretha Franklin to reschedule a New Jersey gig originally planned for this weekend. Also feeling the superstorm’s wrath is Roger Hodgson’s November calendar. Meanwhile, a medical condition has resulted in Journey postponing a few shows.

More than a week after the massive weather monster called Hurricane Sandy unleashed its fury on the East Coast, the storm’s effects are still reverberating throughout the concert world.

The latest changes include Aretha Franklin’s Newark, N.J., show originally planned for the NJPAC’s Prudential Hall Nov. 10. Now fans will have to wait until 2013 to see the Queen Of Soul. Franklin has rescheduled the show for March 30 at the venue.

Thanks to Sandy, Roger Hodgson, purveyor of fine Supertramp songs such as “Take The Long Way Home,” “Dreamer” and “Logical Song,” has made a few changes to his November itinerary.

Hodgson’s Westbury N.Y., show originally scheduled for Nov. 1 at the NYCB Theatre is currently being rescheduled and a new date will be announced shortly. Ditto for his Nov. 7 gig in Englewood, N.J., at Bergen P.A.C.

Here is what Hodgson’s U.S./Canada calendar looks like today:

Nov. 8 – Morristown, N.J., Mayo Performing Arts Center
Nov. 9 – Shippensburg, Pa., H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center
Nov. 13 – Carmel, Ind., The Palladium
Nov. 16 – Rama, Ontario, Casino Rama Entertainment Centre
Nov. 17 – Rama, Ontario, Casino Rama Entertainment Centre
Nov. 18 – Windsor, Ontario, Caesars Windsor “The Colosseum”
Nov. 20 – Glenside, Pa., Keswick Theatre
Jan. 12 – Ridgefield, Conn., Ridgefield Playhouse
March 22 – Clearwater, Fla, Ruth Eckerd Hall

Tickets purchased for the original shows will be honored on the new dates.

Also included is Hodgson’s New York City gig. A note on the artist’s website says a new date for the Big Apple will be announced soon.

A portion of the proceeds from Hodgson’s Nov. 8 show in Morristown will go to the American Red Cross. The former Supertramp singer’s “Give A Little Bit” was used this week during ABC Television’s “Day Of Giving” telethon. Hodgson has offered the song, which has become somewhat of a sing along at his shows, to the American Red Cross to use for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

Journey frontman Arnel Pineda is under the weather, forcing the band to reschedule a few gigs. The singer has been diagnosed with severe laryngeal and esophageal inflammation and is under doctor’s orders to refrain from performing during the next few days.

Shows affected are Nov. 8 in Evansville, Ind., at Ford Center; Nov. 10 in Grand Rapids, Mich., at Van Andel Arena; Nov. 11 in Fort Wayne, Ind., at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum; Nov. 13 in Moline, Ill., at iWireless Center and Nov. 14 in Sioux City, Iowa, at Tyson Center.

Expect the shows to be rescheduled for January and February. Tickets will be honored on the rescheduled dates.
