The Rolling Stones At ‘12-12-12’ Sandy Benefit Concert?

Looking at next month’s calendar, The Rolling Stone’s three nights in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Newark, N.J., are scheduled awfully close to “12-12-12” (A Concert For Sandy Relief). What are the chances the band could make time to swing by the benefit show?

That question was recently proposed to John Sykes, President of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises, by Rolling Stone magazine.

Sykes is producing “12-12-12” with Madison Square Garden Company executive chairman James Dolan and The Weinstein Company co-founder and chairman Harvey Weinstein. The same group produced and sponsored the 9/11 benefit “The Concert for New York City.”

It’s easy to remember the date of the Concert For Sandy Relief. As for the venue, the Dec. 12 event takes place at NYC’s Madison Square Garden.

The Rolling Stones will be in Brooklyn to play Barclays Center Dec. 8, followed by two shows at Newark’s Prudential Center Dec. 13 & 15.

When asked if the Stones might stop by MSG, Sykes told the magazine “There’s been talk of that. The challenge is they have a full-blown dress rehearsal on the 12th or the 13th because their Pay Per View special is on the 15th. But, yeah, there have been conversations with them. Mick and Keith came out for the Concert for New York City 11 years ago and played on their own. They’re well aware of the show and certainly have been invited to be part of it in any way, shape or form of the band.”

So far, the impressive lineup features some of the biggest acts in the world from Paul McCartney to Kanye West.

Rolling Stone reports that the schedule for “12-12-12” has McCartney and West, along with The Who, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, and Roger Waters, each playing 45-minute sets. The rest of the announced acts will join one or more of the main acts on stage. The lineup includes Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and Alicia Keys. For now, organizers plan on the entire show taking four-and-a-half hours.

Sykes says the “final, final lineup” is yet to be announced.
