Goldenvoice Inks Shrine Deal
The agreement includes a multimillion-dollar renovation of the famed venue, which was once the home for events such as the Academy Awards.
Sound and lighting systems, concession areas and bathrooms will be updated, according to the Los Angeles Times, and Wi-Fi will be installed.
“We are very excited to have Goldenvoice taking over operations at the Shrine,” John Everson, who leads the venue’s board of trustees, told the paper. “Their expertise, artist relationships and passion for live events is just what we need to bring a new generation of music fans to our historic venue.”
While the 6,300-capacity Shrine is reportedly expected to host as many as 25 to 30 events per year under the deal, the 5,000-cap Expo Center could also see some dance events coming its way.
“It’s a nice classic venue with a lot of heritage,” Goldenvoice’s Rick Mueller said. “It has a great feel for rock ’n’ roll.”
