Britney Spears confirmed rumors today that she is leaving Fox Television’s “X Factor” after serving as a judge on the talent contest for one season. However, there’s another rumor on the Spears grapevine. One that says she’s shooting for a Las Vegas residency.

Spears issued a statement today confirming reports that she’s leaving Simon Cowell’s latest singing competition and the $15 million salary she reportedly received for her judging talents.

In her statement, Spears said she missed performing.

“I can’t wait to get back out there and do what I love most,” the singer said.

But Spears may be doing what she loves most in one location. Quoting a “knowledgeable insider, columnist Robin Leach reported in the Las Vegas Sun that Spears has been negotiating for “a significant production show on the Strip for a major hotel,” and that talks had reached a “very serious stage.”

TMZ also reported on Spears’ alleged Vegas inspirations. Citing “sources familiar with the situation,” the celebrity news site said Spears is negotiating with “one of the Caesars group properties” and that they have “been wooing her for a while.”

How much money could Spears pull in for a Las Vegas residency? Claiming Celine Dion makes nearly $100 million a year for her shows at The Colosseum At Caesars Palace, TMZ quotes its source as saying Spears “could do even better.”
