Morrissey Can’t Make It

Sickness strikes again. After initially postponing his fall 2012 U.S. tour because his mother was sick, Morrissey has called off a handful of the rescheduled dates because one of his band members is under the weather.

The British singer/songwriter was supposed to take the stage at The Whiting in Flint, Mich., Jan. 24. Hours before the show, the venue’s website posted a message on its Facebook page saying, “Due to artists’ illness, tonight’s performance of MORRISSEY has been cancelled. Refunds will be given at point of purchase.”

The British singer/songwriter won’t be playing Jan. 25 or Jan. 26 either. Friday’s gig at Minneapolis’ Orpheum Theatre is postponed and fans should check back for a rescheduled date, according to the venue’s website.

Saturday’s show at the Chicago Theatre is also being postponed. We don’t know who is sick or the specifics of their illness. The venue is simply saying the show can’t go on “due to band member illness.” A statement on the theatre’s website adds that, “Morrissey would like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience and wishes his band a speedy recovery. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to your continued patronage of The Chicago Theatre.” A new date will be announced soon.

Fans are advised to hold onto their tickets for both the Minneapolis and Chicago shows.

Moz’s next appearance is set for Jan. 28 in Asheville, N.C., at The Orange Peel. U.S. dates are on the books through March, including stops in Nashville, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Dallas, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, San Diego and San Francisco.
