Fuse Dives Into News

The national music television network of the Madison Square Garden Company debuts its “Fuse News” tonight.  Launching with special Grammy coverage, the program is the channel’s newest effort to provide round-the-clock coverage of all things music.

Premiering at 8 p.m. EST, Fuse News is described as the channel’s “new flagship show” that will serve as a “centerpiece” of Fuse’s quest to provide continuous music coverage across multiple platforms.

With anchors Alexa Chung and Matte Babel, Fuse News will also feature senior contributing correspondents Jack Osbourne, Elaine Moran and Liz Walaszczyk.

Developed by Emmy Award-winners Rick Kaplan and Audrey Gruber, Fuse News is looking to provide music fans with way more information than, say, “Entertainment Tonight” might cram into a two-minute segment.  By its own description, Fuse News sounds more like something one might see on a 24-hour cable news channel, kind of like a “Situation Room” for music fans.  Minus Wolf Blitzer, of course.

Beginning tonight and running through Friday,  Fuse News is focusing on the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, serving up three half-hour episodes with comprehensive coverage of Sunday’s Big Event, including interviews of Grammy-nominated artists.

Fuse News’ Sunday Grammy coverage begins at 6 p.m. EST with “Life At The Grammys” featuring two hours of red carpet delights.

Then comes Monday and Fuse News’ Grammy wrap-up showcasing the award shows’ greatest moments mixed in with interviews of fans’ favorite artists.

But there’s more to “Fuse News than covering the Grammys.  After Sunday’s awards show becomes yet another entry in pop culture history books, Fuse News keeps steaming right along, airing weeknights at 8 p.m. EST.

“With ‘Fuse News,’ we want to throw open the window to the world of music, delivering in-depth reports on the people and events that shape this dynamic and ever-changing industry,” Kaplan said.  “We think there is a tremendous opportunity for ‘Fuse News’ to fill a void and become the trusted, go-to destination for music fans.”
