CSN, Ryan Adams Help Light It Up Blue

Crosby, Stills & Nash along with Ryan Adam, Rickie Lee Jones, Lucinda Williams and other acts will take the stage next month at “Light Up The Blues Concert – At Evening of Music to Benefit Autism Speaks.” Stephen Stills and his wife Kristen host the event, emceed by Jack Black.

The cause is a personal one for the Stills’ family. As the couple explains in the statement below, their son Henry has Autism. He was featured in the HBO documentary “Autism: The Musical.”

“As parents of a child on the Autism Spectrum, we recognize the ongoing challenges of every family impacted by this baffling disorder and wish to be part of a community that seeks solutions, and offers support,” says Kristen and Stephen Stills. ‘Light Up The Blues’ will celebrate the many gifts of autistic individuals, while supporting Autism Speaks in their mission to raise awareness and continue to enact their successful advocacy on behalf of all those who navigate through the journey of Autism.”

Light Up The Blues is scheduled April 13 in Los Angeles at Club Nokia. The lineup also includes Stephen Stills’ son and musician Chris Stills, as well as Don Felder, The Miracle Project Fly Singers, plus surprise guests. Actors Amy Brenneman, David Marciano and Michael Chiklis will make appearances.

The event’s name takes its name from “Light It Up Blue,” the campaign during autism awareness month in April to “shine a bright line on autism” by having participating sporting venues, museums, landmarks, concert halls and other buildings turn their lights blue. You can join in too by switching your white bulbs to blue at your home, business, school, place of worship or even your website.

Proceeds from the concert go to Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization. In addition to its advocacy work, Autism Speaks funds research into the causes, prevention, treatment and a cure for the disorder.

VIP preferred seating packages went on sale today via the band’s website. Tickets – both seating and standing room – go on sale to the public March 15. Sponsor packages are available through Autism Speaks.
