Guetta Ducks Out Of Marseille

French house music producer David Guetta ducked out of his Marseille concert planned for June 26 amid local protests about his euro 400,000 ($520,000) coming out of public funds.

About 70,000 people reportedly signed a petition to denounce the subsidy as a waste of taxpayers’ money during a time of economic crisis.

Guetta pulled out in the face of what he described as “political and media agitation,” saying he preferred not to get involved.

The row came amid growing signs of exasperation with France’s traditionally extravagant public policies.
