Björk Books California & Toronto Shows
We’ve got seven new dates to talk about. Five of the gigs are “intimate, in-the-round” audio-visual shows, where the venues will be transformed to her Biophilia specifications. These shows are scheduled May 22, 25 and 28 (near San Francisco) in Richmond at the Craneway Pavilion and June 2 & 5 at the Hollywood Pavilion. The other two dates are June 11 at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl and July 16 at Toronto’s Echo Beach.
Described as an “exploration of the universe and its physical forces – particularly those where music, nature and technology meet,” Biophilia is a multi-media project that includes Björk’s eighth full-length album, apps, installations and live shows.
To go along with the Biophilia performances, the Iclandic singer is bringing her series of interactive workshops, dubbed the Biophilia Education Program, to the Exploratorium science and art museum in San Francisco. Scientists and educators will create a project to go along with each of the 10 tracks from the 2011 Biophilia album, engaging students “both in music and science with creativity, exploration and discovery.” The Biophilia Education Program is also headed to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
A presale for the new dates begins April 2, followed by the public onsale April 4.
