Sovereign Center Meter Issues
The arena received a letter from the Reading Area Water Authority in February stating the facility has the improper meter for a venue of its size, according to the Reading Eagle.
“Failure to have this issue replaced within 30 days of this letter may result in water termination,” the letter stated.
However, the executive director of the water authority told the Eagle the letter isn’t meant to be threatening, and said the agency doesn’t intend to shut the water off at Sovereign Center during the middle of hockey season. The minor-league Reading Royals hockey team plays at the arena.
The authority has been requiring large buildings to install new meters that are more accurate than turbine meters. The replacement is estimated to cost at least $11,000, the paper said.
