BBC Bans Sale Of Free Tickets
BBC Radio 1 announced it will work to ban any tickets for its Big Weekend bash in Londonderry that appear on secondary ticketing sites.
The 37,500 tickets for the free three-day event, which will take place at Ebrington, Derry, over the May 24-26 bank holiday weekend, were snapped up in less than an hour. However, some of the tickets have already appeared on sites such as eBay.
“Tickets for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend Derry-Londonderry are free and we work with those running major auction websites and sales outlets to have posts offering tickets for sale or trade removed,” a Radio 1 spokesperson told BBC Newsbeat.
The station has says it “reserves the right to cancel” any tickets sold by people who won passes to the event.
“Those offering tickets for sale are breaking the terms and conditions they agreed to during the booking process and we reserve the right to cancel them,” the spokesperson explained.
