Billy Currington Dumped As All-Star Pre-Race Act
Charlotte Motor Speedway has replaced country singer Billy Currington as the pre-race act before next month’s All-Star race.
Currington was charged Thursday with making terroristic threats and abuse of an elderly person. He was released from a Georgia jail after posting a $27,700 bond.
Each of the charges is a felony punishable by one to five years in prison.
Charlotte Motor Speedway President Marcus Smith said Friday that double-platinum singer-songwriter Josh Turner will perform the pre-race concert before the May 18 race. Smith cited Currington’s arrest for the change.
