WOMEX announced the European cities shortlisted to host the world music expo from 2015-17.

The next step is to visit and vet the cities and make a choice on which is best-fitted to stage the event for three years.

The site visits will be made by members of the WOMEX production team based in Berlin, explained press officer Hannah Asen.

The production team’s itinerary will include Barcelona, Spain; Budapest, Hungary; Cardiff, UK; Dublin, Ireland; Gothenburg, Sweden; Poznan, Poland; Thessaloniki, Greece; Vienna, Austria and Warsaw, Poland.

WOMEX’s latest venture, co-producing the first edition of Atlantic Music Expo (AME) April 8-10, a new music professional meeting in Cape Verde, Africa, is reported to have been a success.

The second day of AME witnessed the launch of the African Forum of Festivals, which will aim to strengthen the value of culture and foster artist mobility across Africa as a first step toward globally expanding.

WOMEX 2013 will take place in Cardiff Oct. 23-27 at Wales Millennium Centre, a pavilion in Roald Dahl Plas and the Motorpoint Arena.
