Bertelsmann On App

Media giant Bertelsmann’s latest annual report is now available as a mobile app, with additional features such as a behind-the-scenes video featuring personal statements from the company’s directors, a news ticker and even a puzzle.

Solving the latter unlocks reading samples, video clips and other “media surprises” from Bertelsmann’s various divisions.

The 2012 annual report also includes pictures by German photographer Jim Rakete, showing his individual interpretations of Bertelsmann’s strategic cornerstones – strengthening the core, digital transformation, expansion of growth platforms and regional growth.

“Jim Rakete’s motifs lead the viewer, simply and vividly, to the heart of today’s media business: creativity,” said Bertelsmann corporate communications chief Karin Schlautmann.

“The presentation of our group strategy in artistic photos makes it more tangible and emotional – and encourages reflection on it.

“I’m especially excited that we are able to feature additional photographs by Jim Rakete, ones that we are also currently exhibiting at various locations in the group.”

The app is now available free of charge, in English and German, for iPads, iPhones and Android tablets, from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
Bertelsmann’s various businesses, with their more than 100,000 employees, generated revenues of euro 16.1 billion ($21 billion) in 2012.
