Van Halen To Play Calif.’s Mid-State Fair
The Chumash Grandstand Arena in Paso Robles is the place you’ll want to be July 24. Tickets ranging in price from $50 to $180 go on sale May 17 at 10 a.m. PDT.
At this time the only other upcoming U.S. Van Halen gig known to man is the band’s July 20 appearance at “Rock USA” in Oshkosh, Wis. The band played Australia’s inaugural Stone Music Festival April 20.
Van Halen spent the first half of 2012 touring and then nixed the year’s remaining North America dates. At that time David Lee Roth cut a video announcing the bad news, saying the band had “bit off more than we could chew.”
Later in the year Van Halen postponed a November run through Japan, eventually rescheduling the shows for June 2013.
In August the band announced that Eddie Van Halen had undergone surgery for a “severe bout of diverticulitis.” For those of you who didn’t make it to med school, WebMD describes the affliction as a “sometimes painful condition that develops when pouches (diverticula) that form in the wall of the colon, part of the large intestine, become inflamed or infected.”
Here’s the VH schedule as it stands today:
June 18 – Nagoya, Japan, Aichi-ken Gymnasium
June 21 – Tokyo, Japan, Tokyo Dome
June 24 – Osaka, Japan, City Central Gymnasium
June 26 – Osaka, Japan, City Central Gymnasium
July 20 – Oshkosh, Wis., Ford Festival Park (Rock USA)
July 24 – Paso Robles, Calif., Grandstand @ California Mid-State Fair

Btw… If you run into Alex Van Halen, go ahead and wish him a “Happy Birthday!” As of today (May 8), the drummer is 60 years young.
