TM Gets Commonwealth Games

Newly appointed Ticketmaster UK managing director Chris Edmonds has seen his watch off to a good start as the company’s been named official ticket suppler for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The announcement came May 3 with no mention of who the rival bidders were.

Ticketmaster can expect to sell one million tickets for the Glasgow extravaganza, the largest multi-sport event ever staged in Scotland.

“Our Ticketmaster team will bring unrivalled knowledge and experience of supporting major high profile international events and our goal will be to help deliver a comprehensive and successful ticketing strategy for Glasgow 2014,” Edmonds said.

Ticketmaster’s previous involvement includes two of the last three Commonwealth Games and previous Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It successfully sold more than 10.9 million tickets for the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games and has delivered ticketing solutions for previous Rugby World Cup and ICC World Twenty20 cricket tournaments.

The Glasgow 2014 ticketing sales programme launches in August and Ticketmaster will be responsible for online and telephone sales along with venue box office outlets at Games time.

Full details on Glasgow 2014 tickets, including prices for every sport across all Games venues, will be launched in Glasgow later this month.
