Flo-Rida Appeals Fine

Flo-Rida appealed the nearly $385,000 fine that the NSW District Court ordered him to pay out for his last-minute cancellation at the 2011 Fat As Butter festival in Australia.

His Australian legal representative, Nick Furlan, told the Court of Appeal June 3 that the District Court had no jurisdiction over the rapper because he was not in New South Wales at the time.

“My client is an American resident who lives and works in America,” Furlan said. “There was no evidence that he was in NSW on April 13.”

Promoter Mothership Music was granted $366,175 in damages and $36,335 in legal fees.
