8 Charged With Peddling Laughing Gas At Concert

Police in Knoxville say they caught eight men peddling nitrous oxide outside a rock concert.

According to the Knoxville News-Sentinel the out-of-state ring was filling balloons with the gas – also known as “laughing gas” – and selling them outside a Widespread Panic show at the Tennessee Theater on Tuesday night.

Undercover officers reported hearing the suspects calling out “ice cold nitrous” and watching buyers inhale from the balloons and exhibit signs of intoxication. Police said numerous nitrous oxide tanks were found in the suspect’s vehicle.

Police arrested 50-year-old James Allen of Bronx, N.Y., and said he had a large amount of cash. The seven other suspects are from New York and Pennsylvania.
