RIANZ And PPNZ Merge

The Recording Industry Association of New Zealand merged with PPNZ Music Licensing under a new entity called Recorded Music NZ.

RIANZ represented the music labels and acted as an industry lobby group, while PPNZ collected public performance and broadcast royalties on behalf of labels.

“Having the licensing and industry representation activities previously in two different organisations created some confusion and inefficiency,” said the new entity’s CEO, Damian Vaughan. “Under the new structure, we can be really clear about all the services we offer to the recording artists and labels we represent and also more clearly engage with the music-buying public.”
