Odds & Ends: Fight Club Edition

Red Hot Chili PeppersAnthony Kiedis got into a scuffle Friday with a security guard who wouldn’t let him into the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia. Over in Boston, Aaron Carter says he was beat up by thugs who were mad he was in New Kids on the Block territory.

Footage from Kiedis’ encounter shows the singer and a female companion approaching the Four Seasons Hotel and then being stopped by a suited-security guard.

After the security guard continued to block the entrance to the building, the RHCP frontman pushes him. Next, the security guard grabs at Kiedis’ legs, more security guards get involved, and the singer is being held in a chokehold. In the video posted by TMZ, paparazzi can be heard shouting out, “That’s the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers!”

The gossip site reports that the incident took place around the same time the Rolling Stones were exiting the hotel. One of TMZ’s sources says the security guard thought Kiedis “was just another fan.” The Stones were in town to play the second of two nights at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center.

The Four seasons released a statement saying, “The security guards involved in the incident are not employees of Four Seasons, nor were they hired by the Hotel for any reason. We are working with all parties involved to ensure their security and comfort,” according to Philly.com.

TMZ talked to its Stones source, who said that although the security guard doesn’t work directly for the group, it’s possibly he was “hired in Philly to supplement the band’s regular security.”

And here are some closing thoughts from Kiedis. In a statement to TMZ he simply said, “I love the Rolling Stones.”

Aaron Carter’s assailants apparently didn’t have any trouble recognizing the singer.

On Saturday he found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time after leaving dinner in Boston.

The pop singer told TMZ that a “huge guy” in a parking lot told him, “I heard you’re doing a show here tomorrow. This is the town of the New Kids.” Three of the guy’s friends exited a gold Chevy Malibu and then started beating him up.

“It’s true, I got my ass jumped last night. But I’m a soldier.. Errrrr,” Carter tweeted June 23. “I’m a 6th degree black belt in Muay Thai.. They lost”

Carter posted proof of his injuries – including a black eye – on Instagram along with a caption giving a shout out to one of the New Kids On The Block.

“Eh @jordanKnight this one of your homies? He got his ass handed to him last night but his boys got me.. #Soldier”

Carter later tweeted, “Btw @jordanKnight thing was a joke I was just referring to Boston and he’s my only friend here!! Damn yo!”

He also tweeted, “I’m done talking about it.. And FYI just cause someone says nkotb turf doesn’t mean it was their fans.. Y’all are so stupid to believe that.”

As for the concert the thugs were apparently so upset about? Carter still managed to take the stage June 23.
