Phat Camp claims it was approached by defendant Joshua Benyard, who would introduce the company to A$AP Rocky and his longtime friend and business associated A$AP Yams. After several meetings between Phat Camp and “individual or individuals purporting to be” the rapper and his friend, Phat Camp reserved Highline Ballroom in New York for an April 28 show, Courthouse News reported.

For the A$AP Rocky appearance, he promotion company paid the defendants $5,000 up front, with $5,000 after the performance. The company was then offered Kendrick Lamar for the same show at $45,000 with $25,000 paid up front.  That’s when the actual artist representatives stepped in and issued a cease and desist order against Phat Camp for false advertising. The plaintiff then realized the checks had been deposited into a Bank of America account belonging to defendant Brandon Brathwaite, and the phone numbers for Rocky and Yams belonged to another defendant, according to the lawsuit.

Also, the cell phones for Rocky and Yams were actually for defendant Lynn Edmonson, according to the lawsuit.
