Tornado Relief Forces Tim McGraw Date Change

The arena at the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, Kan., was planning on having Tim McGraw as its inaugural performer July 7.  But that was before tornadoes devastated parts of Oklahoma, resulting in country artists coming together for a benefit concert.

Toby Keith’s “Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert” is scheduled one day earlier than McGraw’s Mulvane gig.  Taking place at the Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, the benefit will feature performances by Keith along with Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Trisha Yearwood, Ronnie Dunn, Mel Tillis, John Anderson and Sammy Hagar.

Pretty much a straight drive on Interstate 35, the distance separating Mulvane and Norman is approximately 165 miles per Google Maps.  So you gotta figure there would be some audience overlap.

Evidently the folks at the Kansas Star Casino thought so.  They’ve rescheduled McGraw’s gig and the country will now play the new arena Oct. 12.

The casino is also pitching in to help with the cause by donating $5 from every ticket sold to Oklahoma’s tornado relief efforts.
