Animal Collective Is Ailing Again

Morrissey isn’t the only one getting sick and repeatedly canceling/postponing dates. Animal Collective broke the news to fans today that it was scratching all of its remaining July gigs from its schedule, including a few shows that had already been rescheduled earlier this year.

Here is the band’s statement, signed by Avey Tare, Deakin, Geoligist, and Panda Bear:

“Hey AC fans,

“Due to illness, we will unfortunately not be able to perform our upcoming July tour dates, including the Camp Bisco and Forecastle festivals. We deeply apologize and tried our best to make it work with an alternate set, but ultimately we didn’t feel like we were giving fans what they deserved from an Animal Collective show. We are working on rescheduling the non-festival dates as soon as possible. Again we send our sincerest apologies to fans anticipating these shows, especially considering the cancellations earlier this year.”

Along with the July 12 appearance at Camp Bisco in Mariaville, N.Y., and the July 14 set at Forecastle Festival in Louisville, Ky., the affected gigs include shows in Portland, Maine; Royal Oak, Mich.; Cleveland, Ohio; Covington, Ky., and Nashville, Tenn.

The Royal Oak, Cleveland, Covington and Nashville dates were initially scheduled for March before being postponed for July because multi-instrumentalist Avey Tare had “an intense case of strep throat.”
