Summerfest Boost

Attendance at Summerfest in Milwaukee June 26-30 and July 2-7 increased by more than 4 percent over 2012.

Reps with the Milwaukee World Festival, which produces the 11-day lakefront event, told the Journal Sentinel early tabulations show more than 840,000 fans visited the site compared with 805,437 in 2012 when temperatures were in the 90s and 100s most days.

Food and beverage sales also went up about 7 percent from last year.

This year’s lineup included Violent Femmes, The Avett Brothers, Billy Idol, Imagine Dragons, Rick Springfield, Foreigner, and Nelly.
