Tune In To The Smashing Pumpkins’ 1997 Show

Smashing Pumpkins fans, it looks like your plans are set for this weekend. Billy Corgan & Co. are putting on a interactive viewing party of the band’s never-before-released July 4, 1997 concert in Belfort, France. Oh, and it’s free!

The “Live at Malsaucy Lake” concert is included in the Pumpkins’ re-mastered CD/DVD of the box set The Aeroplane Flies High, due out July 23 as part of Virgin/Ume’s continuing series of reissues of the band’s catalog. In addition to the 6 CD + 1 DVD set, The Aeroplane Flies High will also be available in the following editions: 5 LPs, deluxe digital and standard digital.

To watch the concert before next week’s release date, you’ll want to take part in the viewing party on Smashing Pumpkins’ Facebook page. The 1997 gig will be available for a free 24-hour on-demand rental period beginning July 20 at 6 p.m. Pacific Time.

So, what’s up with the interactive portion of the viewing party? You’ll get to connect to fellow SP fans through “live chat and time-released Social Widgets, delivering exclusive images, trivia, polls and video clips that can be shared via social networks.”
