Pinnacle Arena Bridge Repair

A pedestrian bridge near the 15,550-capacity Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb., needs some major repair work after two of the bridge’s girders reportedly slipped out of place in April.

The West Haymarket Joint Public Agency, which oversees construction of the $179 million arena at the University of Nebraska, has contracted with a New York-based engineering firm to assess and repair the bridge at a minimum estimated cost of $84,000.

The $7.9 million bridge built by Hawkins Construction is expected to accommodate thousands crossing from the venue to parking areas.

The arena, future home to the Cornhuskers basketball team, is scheduled for grand opening festivities in September. Concerts on the books so far include Michael Bublé, Jason Aldean, Eagles, Miranda Lambert, Pink, and Jeff Dunham.
