Sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim, along with drummer Dash Hutton, make up what agent Adam Voith calls a “post-genre” foursome that’s already made its name among musicians from Mumford & Sons to Rihanna.

“They’re a band’s band. Bands like to be around them and watch them play music,” Voith told Pollstar. “They’re insanely talented musicians and can play anything, any genre. Because they grew up with access to all music, all the time, there’s not the sort of niche-y considerations of what kind of music you’re listening to.”

The sisters were already seasoned artists by the time they formed Haim, having performed in their parents’ band, Rockinhaim, and all three are capable multi-instrumentalists, swapping drums, keyboards and guitars along with vocals.

Haim’s debut LP, Days Are Gone, doesn’t drop until Sept. 30, but the band has already toured around the world, opening for Mumford, Rihanna, Vampire Weekend and others, laying the groundwork for the record. They’ve gained the attention of tastemakers in the music press, too, including the BBC Sound poll list for promising new talent.

Voith became acquainted with Haim through the recommendation of another noted tastemaker, Daniel Glass of Glassnote Records.

“I went to L.A., saw them, and met their parents, the girls and their manager, Jon Lieberberg, and really dug it,” Voith said. “We saw things similarly at that point and what they wanted to do with touring.”

A North American headline tour is about to start in major and secondary markets, and there’s more in store.

“We’ve built up some club history in major markets,” Voith said. “We’re going to focus heavily in the spring in the U.S. and building the band as a headliner all over the country in major and secondary markets.

“We’ve been a lot of places but haven’t yet, in the States, done one big go-around in a while. You’ll see that happening early next year.”
