Honda Center Concessions Suit

The Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., is facing a class-action lawsuit from three former concession employees who allege the venue violated state law by letting them go after taking concessions in-house.

The workers claim state law requires employees of a previous contractor to be offered work during a transition period. “At the end of the 60-day transition employment period, the successor contractor must provide a written performance evaluation to each retained employee and offer continued employment to any retained employee whose performance was satisfactory during the 60-day period,” reads the complaint, according to OC Weekly.

But after Anaheim Arena Management took over operations from Aramark in July, the company hired only 75 employees out of hundreds who’d worked there for years and re-applied for their jobs, the suit says.

OC Weekly noted about 220 employees in food and beverage services at the venue had worked for Aramark for more than five years, and half of that group had worked there for more than 10 years.

The former employees seek back pay.
