Several shows scheduled to play the theater, including Weird Al Yankovic, John Hiatt and
Dewey reportedly is in talks with the city about taking over the Golden State Theatre’s operations.
Those who purchased tickets to the canceled shows through Ticketmaster have been refunded, Grover told the paper. But “less than 300” who did not have yet to get their money back.
Several of those ticketholders contacted the paper, saying they haven’t been able to reach anyone at the venue in order to be refunded.
Grover said that’s because the phone was shut off.
“There’s no point in paying phone bills when I have to pay people back for their tickets,” he told the paper. “There wasn’t an opportunity to keep those systems up.”
The theatre has continued to be rented for other shows and is up for sale with an asking price of nearly $5 million, according to the Herald.
Grover told the paper that he has contact information for everyone who purchased tickets and that they do not need to contact him directly.
He added he is still owed deposits from PG&E and promoter Goldenvoice.
