Bill Kurtis Profiles Utsick
A producer for the popular Bill Kurtis-hosted program told Pollstar a specific date has not been set, but expects the episode to air in November.
Utsick, Worldwide Entertainment Inc. and two other partners agreed to settle Securities and Exchange Commission charges that they raised more than $300 million from 3,300 investors nationwide between 1998 and 2005 in what amounts to a Ponzi scheme.
Once thought to be one of the world’s most successful promoters, Utsick agreed to liquidate assets to repay investors and his businesses were placed in receivership. A U.S. District Court judge entered a final judgment in 2009, ordering a $4.1 million “disgorgement” plus pre-judgment fees and civil penalties.
After Utsick failed to appear for hearings and depositions in the case, it was learned he had left the country. An attorney for Utsick told Pollstar at the time that Utsick was attempting to start a new business in Brazil.
