Security Suit Uncovers Racist Emails
Contemporary Services Corporation is being sued by a former employee, Sean Felder, in Manhattan federal court for racial discrimination and retaliation, the New York Post reported. Felder is black.
In a number of emails obtained by the paper, former CSC VP Scott Dennison allegedly called blacks “scum suckers” and “worthless” in correspondence regarding recruitment of employees for the U.S. Open tennis tournament.
“No African Americans please only limited quantities that have brains and can actually do a day’s work,” one email says.
In another email, Dennison allegedly offered a mock testimonial by Felder in reference to a Craigslist posting for security jobs.
“Yu sez brothurz, Mr. Gon allows the black man to be superior we run the place cuz we needs the money and Obama and Rev Sharpton allowed us to mix with the White Crackers at this event,” he wrote. “Come on down we can cheat, steal, eat food and sleep. Just like our new govt allows us to do, to get back at the white man for Slavery.”
CSC announced it had terminated Dennison’s employment in a statement following the Post’s report.
“We take this matter extremely seriously, and these alleged statements are unacceptable and do not reflect CSC’s core values or company policies,” CSC President Jim Granger said. “We would like to assure our employees, clients and associates that we will continue to provide quality and reliable services while maintaining the highest levels of integrity and equal opportunity for all CSC employees.”
The statement also noted CSC’s workforce is composed of more than 75 percent minority employees throughout all levels of the firm, and that the company has received awards from the Urban League and the NAACP for its outreach in minority communities across the country.
