Odds & Ends: Tim McGraw, Kelly Clarkson
Clarkson’s gig is also a celebration, helping Musicians On Call mark six years in Music City. Presented by Citi Private Pass, the benefit concert takes place Nov. 14 at Nashville’s Hard Rock Café.
Along with the performance the evening includes a VIP Cocktail Reception and silent auction with items from local vendors and autographed memorabilia.
All proceeds go to MOC Nashville, which is dedicated to bringing live and recorded music to patients in healthcare facilities. Since the organization expanded to Nashville, local musicians and national celebrities have brought music to more than 70,000 patients, families and staff in Middle Tennessee through 12 weekly programs in seven area healthcare facilities.
Clarkson is one of those volunteer musicians. Last year she surprised patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt with an impromptu performance.
Tickets to the anniversary benefit concert went on sale to the public today. Visit MusiciansOnCall.org/KellyClarkson for more information.
Tim McGraw says that playing a free show is the easy job.
“It’s easy for me to show up and play music to honor the men and women who have the really tough jobs,” McGraw said. “To me, it’s just one small thing I can do to help show how much we appreciate what they put on the line and what these families sacrifice every single day.”
“Chase Presents Live From The HomeFront: Tim McGraw” is scheduled Nov. 10 at U.S. Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Fla. The Navy base is home to nearly 5,000 uniformed service members, their families and 2,000 Department of Defense civilian employees.
The country singer teamed up with Chase and Operation Homefront over a year ago to create the HomeFront program, which helps returning veterans transition back to civilian life. So far the program has given out more than 70 mortgage-free homes to wounded warriors and military members in need. HomeFront will award another home Nov. 10.
“Since we started this program 18 months ago, I have had the privilege of meeting many service members and their families and have heard many inspiring stories,” McGraw said. “It’s something I’m proud to do and want to take it as far as we can!”
McGraw’s performance will be broadcast live online at his website and YouTube page starting at 8:45 p.m. Eastern Time, in addition to being shown on the Pentagon Channel.
