Truck Accident Postpones Kanye Dates

Talk about a Halloween trick! After Kanye West pushed back his Oct. 20 gig in Vancouver until Oct. 31, the venue announced just hours before tonight’s showtime that the concert has been postponed yet again. The next two stops on the tour are also on hold.

When the Oct. 20 gig at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena was first postponed, the only reason given was the classic “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

Now Kanye is blaming a truck accident that occurred on the way to Vancouver. According to an announcement posted on Rogers Arena’s website, which was sent to the venue on behalf of Island Def Jam, the truck was transporting Kanye’s custom-made video truss and 60-ft circular LED screen. The gear has been damaged “beyond repair,” which means the Yeezus Tour has come crashing to a halt.

The statement goes on to say, “This gear is central to the staging of The Yeezus Tour, and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team at DONDA. As a result of this event, it is impossible to put on the show and The Yeezus Tour will be postponed until these essential pieces can be reengineered and refabricated. Kanye West will not compromise on bringing the show, as it was originally envisioned and designed, to his fans.”

Along with tonight’s concert, the Nov. 3 gig at Denver’s Pepsi Center and the Nov. 5 stop at Minneapolis’ Target Center are postponed.

More details about the rescheduled dates will be announced soon.
