Lund Gruppen Rests Stavanger Live

Norwegian outdoor entertainment giant Lund Gruppen is resting its Stavanger Live festival after only one year to focus on the same city’s Landstreff Festival.

Landsreff, a student festival that started in 1987 and has sold out its 12,000 capacity for the last 12 years, appears the safer bet for growth.

Next year’s edition has already sold out. Lund Gruppen director Magnus Lund, whose family has had ownership of the now publicly listed company since 1895, says Landsreff’s more of a national festival while Stavanger Live has more of a regional appeal.

He said the first year of Stavanger Live was “an expensive investment” and the company will now look to “build the brand in a different direction.”

This year both the Stavanger festivals were staged over the same weekend, but Lund reckons the different nature of the events meant that they didn’t damage each other.

The Landsreff bill had Knife Party, Tinie Tempah, Kaizers Orchestra, Lupe Fiasco, and Two Door Cinema Club.

So far none of the acts for next year’s already-sold-out fest have been named.

Apart from owning and running the local Rogaland Leisure Park, one of Norway’s most popular theme parks, Lund Gruppen also runs Lund’s Tivoli in Ålgård and produces small festivals and other outdoor events throughout the country.
