La Luz Drops Off Of Montreal Tour After Van Accident

It’s every band’s nightmare – a vehicle accident that roughs up its members, totals the transportation, destroys the merch and wrecks the gear.  For members of the all-female surf-rock quintet La Luz, it also means leaving the Of Montreal tour.

The Seattle band’s problems began Tuesday night.  The band was traveling to a sold-out hometown show at Neumos when their van was rear-ended by a large truck, destroying the band’s vehicle and seriously bruising the ladies.

Suicide Squeeze, the imprint distributing La Luz’s Brainwash EP, is donating 100 percent of profits from the disc to help the band’s recovery.

From La Luz:

“Last night (Tuesday) was probably the most terrifying experience of any of our lives.  But we’re OK!  Thanks for the love and well wishes everyone.  We lost a lot of things (pretty much everything we had) and got pretty banged up when we were hit by a semi on our way to Seattle last night, but we’re just awfully glad to be alive and we’ll be back on our feet in no time. For those of you who want to help out financially, Hardly Art set up this PayPal to help us pay for some stuff and money we lost.  Love to you all!”
