Stones Add Six More Downunder

Two weeks after announcing that The Rolling Stones would play at the March 22 reopening of , the band added five more Australian shows as well as one in New Zealand.

The 14 On Fire dates are booked through Frontier Touring and AEG Live.

They include a stop at the iconic Hanging Rock, which Frontier Touring’s managing director Michael Gudinski is trying to build up as an outdoor concert attraction.

He’s already staged shows there by Bruce SpringsteenLeonard Cohen and Rod Stewart

The dates are , Sydney , Melbourne  and Auckland  March 19 through April 5.

Michael Gudinski said, “It’s been a life long ambition of mine to bring the legendary Stones back down under and I cannot say how excited I am about their 2014 tour. With just one night only confirmed for each city plus a very special one-off concert at Hanging Rock, this tour will be talked about for decades to come.”

The 2014 run marks the Stones’ seventh visit downunder.

They first toured in 1965, with recent treks including A Bigger Bang (2006), Licks (2003) and Voodoo Lounge (1995) all making their way down.

The Adelaide Oval show sold out 50,000 tickets in three hours.

The dates will kick into shows in Asia, expected to be announced Dec. 4.

Tickets go on sale Dec. 16.

A limited number of “lucky dip” seats from each venue will go for the bargain price of A$99 ($89).
