IMG Artists has announced a new partnership with the China Arts and Entertainment Group call Sino American Global Entertainment, whose aim is to create “new paths for performances and marketing” in both the U.S. and China, mainly in the realm of classical music.

Zhang Yu, the president of the new entity, told the New York Times, “I believe China is the fastest-growing classical music market,” and pointed out that “tens of millions of children” in China are learning to play the violin or the piano.

In addition, new theaters and concert halls are being built everywhere in the country.

Jerry Inzerillo, president and CEO of IMG Artists, added that the new venture should bring about greater exposure in the U.S. for major emerging talent from China.

What’s encouraging about China’s burgeoning classical music market is that it’s being supported by young people, widening the possibilities for Western artists.

More significantly, “If you take Chopin, or Brahms, or Beethoven, it needs no translation,” he said.

The venture will also work with music schools in China to develop new talent.
