High Definition License Revoked
Members of Redbridge Council revoked the license Dec. 18 on the grounds that the site at Forest Farm, Hainault, is “wholly inadequate.”
The event has been at Forest Farm for the last three years.
The council’s licensing review committee considered the large amounts of crime and disorder associated with the festival, with 900 cases of forged tickets.
“The decision was made for a number of reasons but it was notable that the committee agreed with the police and other agencies that the infrastructure surrounding the premises is wholly inadequate for such large numbers of people,” a council spokesman said.
“This compromises the licensing objectives – to prevent public nuisance, crime and disorder and promote public safety.”
A statement on the festival’s website said: “The festival has grown substantially in its three years of existence and it was felt by the council that the site was unsuitable for holding an event that attracts so many people.
“The licence holders are currently considering whether to appeal this decision but in the meantime we have already been looking at alternative sites and will confirm the festival’s new location in the New Year.”
Next year’s High Definition is planned July 5.
