Industry Noize: Rod Laver Arena’s $300M Upgrade
The Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne unveiled plans for a A$338 million ($306 million) redevelopment that will include a new 5,000-seat outdoor show court.
It is part of a revamp of the Melbourne Park precinct.

It will see seating capacity for the arena – No. 6 in Pollstar’s 2013 Year End Top 200 Arenas after shifting 894,629 tickets – rise to 15,000 from 14,820.
The neighboring Hisense Arena will also, as a result, expand to a 10,500 capacity.
The Melbourne Park precinct hosts more than 2.1 million patrons across 200 events and delivers A$420 million ($380 million) in economic benefits in the state.
