PPCA Distributes $33.6M
Phonographic Performance Company of Australia, which grants licenses for radio, TV, internet, live music venues and public broadcasts on behalf of artists and record labels, handed out a record A$33.6 million ($29.55 million) to them through 2013.
This was an increase of almost 16 percent on the 2012 distribution of $29 million (US$25.5 million), and sets a new record.
“Whilst we are delighted to be able to provide increased distributions to artists and labels, PPCA is conscious that there are still a number of areas where creators, and those who invest in them, are not yet adequately compensated for their creative efforts and investment,” PPCA’s Sydney-based CEO Dan Rosen said. “PPCA will continue to work hard to achieve fair returns for our stakeholders’ creative content.”
